An exercise bike is an equipment that could easily help you lose weight and achieve the body that you look for. An exercise bike, or any type of bike for that matter, will require you whole body to concentrate and sweat. Although you are only using your feet for that specific exercise, you are also making your body move a little bit which will also work extra hard to help you in motion while for exercise bikes.
Choosing the Right Bike
Exercise bikes come in different prices and their prices are usually determined by its brand, its model and materials. Before you go out and shop for an exercise bike, set a budget for the equipment. An exercise bike could cost you more than $1,000 or could be less than $300. That is why you need to set a budget first as there will always be an appropriate bike based on your preferences.
After setting a budget, you can start shopping for the type of bike. There are basically two types of exercise bike: the upright bike and recumbent bike.
Upright Bikes
The most popular type of exercise bike is the upright bike. This type of bike basically emulates the actual bike but is only stationary. Your biking experience will almost be the same as the regular bike except that you are not moving at all.
Recumbent Bikes
The recumbent bike on the other hand is a newer type of exercise bike wherein the individual will be required to recline a little bit. Recumbent exercise bikes are a little bit easier to handle since there is a back support.
Both of these exercise bikes will work towards your advantage. Some would prefer recumbent bike since it will prevent back problem. However, this type of bike will take a lot of space in your room as you will be required to stretch out a little bit. The upright bike is smaller but will require more power to pedal.
Accessories and Options for the Exercise Bike
Accessories for exercise bikes vary. The more you pay for an exercise bike, the more accessories you’ll have. Dials that will inform you of distance covered, speed and time on bike are only some of the accessories that you can opt for in your exercise bike. Water bottles and heart rate monitors could also be part of your exercise bike. Again, you don’t have to spend additional dollars for these as long as they do not go with the budget.
Warranty
If you think you’ll be in your exercise bike almost everyday, look for an exercise bike that will give you a good warranty on the equipment. Most exercise bikes will give you a warranty for a year in both mechanical and electronic parts while others provide a limited lifetime warranty on certain parts. Usually the price could go high easily if you opt for exercise bikes with extended warranties.
Properly determine your budget before you go out and shop for an exercise bike. There will always be an exercise bike based on your budget as long as you’re willing to compromise on the type and accessories that goes with the exercise bike.
